Welcome to Heppner's Legacy, the only Homeschool Store in Minnesota and the entire upper mid-west. You can find our shop at 369 Jackson Avenue NW in Elk River, MN 55330.

Winter is the perfect time for a great family read-aloud. Pop some corn, heat some cocoa, and cuddle up with one of these top picks of ours which many are not familiar with, but may become favorites in your family too.

  • Chestry Oak by Kate Seredy - A story of WWII in Hungary through the eyes of 5 year old Prince Michael. (3rd - 6th)
  • Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett - A classic rags-to-riches story whose main character sets an example of attitudes and actions that we could all take to heart. (3rd - 6th)
  • Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster - Delight in wordplay as Miles travels in the land of Dictionopolis, jumps to the Island of Conclusions, meets the Whether Man, and must rescue the princesses Rhyme and Reason. (3rd - 6th)
  • Tanglewoods’ Secret by Patricia St. John - A poignant story of forgiveness and finding purpose in the Savior. (3rd - 8th)
  • Wilderking Trilogy by Jonathan Rogers - Escape to the kingdom of Corenwald in the allegorical tale of the life of King David. (3rd - 9th)
  • Swallows and Amazons by Arthur Ransome - Adventure with the four Walker children as they experience a perfect childhood summer of sailing, camping, exploring, and fighting pirates on the lake by their cottage. (4th - 9th)
  • Little Britches series by Ralph Moody - A rich autobiographical account of the fascinating life of Ralph Moody in the American West at the turn of the century. If you’re new to this eight-book series, start with “Little Britches”. (5th - 9th)
  • Hattie Big Sky by Kirby Larson - 16 year old orphan Hattie inherits a 320 acre homestead in Montana during WWI and sets out to prove up the claim. (6th - 12th)
  • Chosen by Chaim Potok - Two Jewish young men meet in New York in 1944 and experience the changing times after the war and as Israel is becoming a nation. (7th - 12th)

If you're new to Heppner's Legacy, we're an eclectic home school resource shop. As stated in our Mission Statement above, our focus is to help you educate your children. This includes providing carefully selected items you can trust. We have in stock things for every age and every subject, more than 4,000 titles and 10,000 items at any given time. In addition to widely available curricula (e.g., Apologia Science, Saxon Math, Learning Language Arts Through Literature, Easy Grammar) we also have many things which may be more difficult to find, like:
